Today, my legs stopped running,
Today, my voice was gone.
Today, I stopped singing,
Today, will never come.
I saw the line of sun,
Still invisible to the eye.
I turned my maw skywards,
And had to wonder why.
Why its darkest before daybreak?
Why its quite without calm?
Why the blood trickles,
Through the lines of old palms.
And I remember, my fragile existence,
Curved my jowls to a smile.
I recalled the life's bitter and sweet,
And knew I walked my mile.
My voice no longer cries at night,
I've gone to find my way.
My legs have now stopped running,
I stopped singing today.
And when I closed my eyes,
Breathed deep my final thought.
Remembered my regrets,
And troubles once braught.
The joyish laughs on hillside scene,
Times of soft content.
Dancing in the moonlight,
Songs of heaven sent.
I knew now how much I loved,
The very taste of life.
Whether far from sight, I walk,
Somewhere along the knife.
But now I feel a ritual depart,
And rise from the encasement.
Ponder things of farther light,
And a future placement.
I saw my messenger come for me,
Standing at stalk still.
I knew this time had come,
But stronger grew my will.
We exchanged a set of glances,
And this, for what I knew.
I could not yet leave this home,
There was still too much to do.
Passages never written,
Stories never told.
Skies left unpainted,
Left out into the cold.
Dreams never dreamt of,
Hunts left undone.
Wings never forged,
Songs left unsung.
My part here was not finished,
And knew the attachment would hold.
I couldn't leave, just yet.
Wondering if it would be told.
I have yet to repay my debts,
And I'm bound to this land.
I know not at heart,
As I stand on shifting sand.
And I think he understood,
My job that waits, undone.
But my time was over now,
My life had come and gone.
He spoke to me a promise,
One I must fulfill.
If I remain on this earth,
Then I do so at my will.
I must watch the lands below,
And turn from heaven's gate.
For as long as I remain,
This was chosen fate.
Take my flesh and steal my blood,
But leave behind a soul.
This is all I need,
To guide the new and old.
I will protect the ancient Rites,
And keep alive tribal beat.
Bring life to old rituals,
And the spirits I must greet.
So though my voice is faded,
I will sing for you.
And I hope you will hear it,
For its all that I can do.
Keep my tales alive,
And sing for my lost song.
Remember my reflection,
Long after I'm gone.
I live on in this forest,
I've finally found my way.
I won't wake up tomorrow,
I stopped singing today.

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."
"Courage is doing what you are afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared."
Still, your rhymes and the feeling that I can lying behind the words did move me in a way, though it truly escaped me.
The only thing I would have to advise is that you review and maybe make some spelling corrections. For example, the word "braught" in the line "Troubles once braught" or something like that...I think is meant to be "brought."
Good job!
